A fireplace always adds a romantic aspect to an evening in the Guatemalan Highlands. The Hotel Villa Grande (now Hotel Casa del Rey), Chichicastenango, offers fireplaces in its suites, where we recently spent several days while photographing indigenous Maya textiles.
